Handmade Envelopes
August 5th, 2011 @ 12:49 amI LOVE making and mailing things in handmade envelopes. There’s just something about them. To open up your mailbox and see an envelope that is something other than white, is so much fun.
My niece is a crafting extraordinaire! She’s been making things left and right this summer and her creativity amazes me. She received a Cricut for Christmas and has been making several cards. Right now she’s into making 6″x6″ cards.
She’ll occasionally text me and tell me something to put on her wish list for her birthday or Christmas (so helpful). Her latest “wish” is an envelope template. I have two brands of envelope templates in various sizes. If she sticks with making cards this size, there probably is a better choice of a template for her.
I made her one of each size (from the two brands I have) so she could see what better fits her cards. My guess is…it’s going to be the larger envelope, so I decided to make her a handful of them since she doesn’t have an envelope template to use yet.
On four of the envelopes, I experimented with rub-ons to add something extra. I like how it turned out. I’m also including (not pictured) labels for each envelope so you can read the address since some of the envelopes are a bit dark (I use 4 inch oval labels and wrap part of it to the back of the envelope to be a bit more unique). I use the scrap paper left over to make cards or use in other projects, so I’m mailing the scraps home to her as well in hopes that she’ll find a use for them too.
Look in the mail Abby, you should get them late next week. Hope you enjoy!

I love sending and getting envelopes in the mail that aren’t white! I do special colors each year for the Tapestry Girls’ event just for that reason.
I love that Abby’s following in your steps with the craftiness! Go Abby!

When are you gonna get stuff back on etsy so I can tell my friends?

LOL! I had no clue you were telling friends.
I’d certainly love to get things listed in my shop again. I have so many other things that are priority right now that need to get off my plate first (like my volunteering duties for church that I’ve been sitting on a week, although it is October curriculum so it’s not like it’s needed ASAP).
I have my project table piled high with things to make (a great look for having your house on the market).
I’ll let you know when my Etsy store is open again. Thanks for being interested.

So glad you liked them and are already getting use out of them. I’m laughing that you think I’ve taught you some creative things. Do you know who’s more creative than I am? Your Mom! She’s the queen of creativity! I learned so much from her!
Love you too!!!

I knew mom used to scrapbook and make cards, I will have to ask her to help me sometime! It’s a teaching circle! Haha! Well thanks again.

A teaching circle indeed. I get all of my inspiration from online or by a Google search now. LOL! Nothing is ever an original idea anymore.
