The Unthinkable

Me in my slippers standing on the parking space line outside the car. *sigh*

It’s been one of those days today for me.  I feel awful!  Stupid head cold.  Brody and I have had so much going on today and I’m having a hard time keeping up.

Brody has had something to do during every single “awake” time today.  This morning he had a free-for-all play at a gymnastic place, this afternoon he had his 15-month well check visit and tonight we both had a Chiropractor appointment.

So…my “unthinkable” happened today (key word “think”).  I clearly wasn’t thinking when I left the house for the Chiropractor.  As I get out of the car in the parking lot of the Chiropractor’s office, I realize (right away) that I’m still wearing my slippers.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  AGH!  There was nothing I could do but laugh.  Still laughing and shaking my head.  Just one of those days.

  1. Hahahaha! I would totally do that, Jan! I always have to double-check when I leave the house. It’s because they’re so comfy! At least yours look like they can pass for regular shoes. Mine are pink fluffy slippers Chris got me two Christmases ago! There’s no way I could pull those off publicly!

  2. Yes, it would be very hard to pull off pink slippers in public. LOL! :)

  3. And that is HILAR.

And I’ve done this!!! Listen, it could’ve been way worse. People leave the house ON PURPOSE in PJ bottoms.

And yes, I agree with Susan–passable for shoes.

  4. I LOVE it!!! :) That made my day to read… how many people WANT to do that! You got to stay comfortable and get a good laugh out of it too! That’s awesome!

(As Rachel said, people DO leave the house in PJ’s. There is one parent at our school that comes into the building in PJ bottoms AND A ROBE!! No joke! It always gives me a chuckle…especially when it happens at 3pm in the afternoon.)

  5. Oh my word! Are you serious? Who in their right mind goes out of the house in a ROBE (especially at 3pm)? That does make me laugh (and feel better). :)

  6. That’s a good one Jan! Sometimes I am in such a hurry getting the kids out…as I am driving out the driveway I actually have to look at myself to see if I got dressed.

  7. Even though the day was almost over, I even had to stop and make sure I put my bra on. LOL! So I understand what you mean about making sure you even got dressed. :)

  8. I did it once, going to my hometown for lunch within the past 2 years. I wondered if I should double back to my daughter’s or on to my sister’s, but I got into the restaurant and didn’t confess it until later. I cannot remember what bedroom slippers I had on.

Another time, many moons ago, one of my kids, the oldest, I think, RJ, was sick at school, and as I didnt’ feel too good at home that day, I had on a housecoat and slippers to go the 8 miles to pick him up thinking he would be at the door waiting for me. He was not, so I had to drive nearby to someone’s house I knew, knock on her door in my get-up and ask her to call the school to have him at the door when I drove back a few blocks.

I thought it was a funny story, but if I remember right, my mother-in-law was not too impressed when I told it the following Sunday. I doubt she ever went around in a robe.

    Try to top that!!

  9. That is funny! I’m sure RJ got a talking to for not being at the front door of the school. LOL! I wouldn’t have thought to go to a nearby house to call. I probably would have just went in the school and made a joke about not relying on someone waiting at the door for you ever again. :) That is funny though!
