Stalled
January 5th, 2011 @ 10:05 amI started off great with Brody’s onesie quilt and have just stalled. I haven’t touched it in at least a week. *sigh* I guess I was thinking I would finish it too quickly and still have to wait on the fabric for the binding, but that came within a couple of days, so I’m not sure what my excuse is now. LOL!
So, here’s a picture of my very slow progress and how it looks sitting on my project table (nice care for an heirloom….wadded up on my table).

I think you can become too involved with a project as I do it all the time…have certain books I want to read, knit the Caps, mail out gospel letters to Muslims around the world and on and on…so goal-oriented. I thought maybe I did it to show off for your gramps, but I am still doing it.
I just finished a full-page letter to a HS underclasswoman because I found a letter from her to me written 66 or more years ago, but I wanted to know what she was thanking me for–in light of her dating a guy she did NOT marry. (She signed the letter as if they were married!) I will let you know what she answers.
I have passed on two other letters of your gramps’ that mentions these people in his WWII letters, letting them know that he appreciated their letter to him.

All very true (we do become very involved with our projects).
How fun to read about people Grandpa enjoyed hearing from when he was in WWII. I do wonder if you’ll hear back from that one woman.

i have to ask … are you using batting? what kind? inquiring minds want to know!

Danielle, Yes, I’m using batting. The batting I’m using is called Warm & Natural (http://www.warmcompany.com/). I’ve used several brands over the years and I like this one the best. I found it on sale at a local quilting shop and have used it ever since.

Lucky to find it on sale. Your great-grandmother Leffler used to quilt lots of pieced quilts and used washable batting, of course. I have two of her quilts as she finally gave your Gramps one after he had helped her mark several and put into the big frame, as she didn’t realize we had 0, then we bought all her household stuff to help her out when moving to the nursing home and got another one that way, but it is not pieced…just a pretty pattern…used, by her, as a bedspread with sheets to match.
People are still commenting on the “tie” one you made me. Aaron was over a couple weeks ago and hadn’t seen it nor the moved-around TV room which was done the day I cracked my head, on 7/25, a year and a week after your grandfather’s death. The two MJs took advantage of my “weakened” condition to do that…((O:>

What fun memories (how you came about the two quilts you now have). If you ever want that one pieced together, I’d be happy to do it for you (although I’m sure I wouldn’t do near as good of a job as Great-Grandma).
And…if you prefer your TV room a particular way, I’d change it to YOUR preference.

[...] Brody’s onesie quilt that hasn’t moved an inch since the photo I last took of it and blogged about. *sigh* [...]
