Random Facts About Little ‘Ole Me
January 24th, 2011 @ 12:29 pm
I thought it would be fun to share a little bit more about myself with you. I don’t know about you, but I always enjoy it when my favorite bloggers share some of their personal life (not that I’m a favorite, but it’s still nice to read more about someone’s blog that you read).
Here are some random facts about me…
–I have an irrational FEAR of spiders! I do not like them…AT ALL! My husband (and eventually Brody) has been trained to kill them upon immediate discovery.
–I don’t like loud noises (firecrackers, thunder, balloons popping). I hate the “jumping scared” feeling! If I know the loud noise is coming, I’m good.
–I am not a fan of reading books. I’ll read a magazine any day though (like the shortness of it and can walk away from it at any time). If I read a book, it’s a self-help book (something that applies to my life). I don’t have time to read, so I want to make it worth my while.
–I love watching it rain. Doesn’t matter if it’s just drizzle or a full on soaking…just as long as it’s not accompanied by thunder.
–I used to play the flute (for 2 years). I wish I would have stuck with it.
–I am a night person. I come alive somewhere around 10:00PM. I love staying up late while the house is quiet. It’s the waking up in the morning part that I don’t like.
–I can’t wait for Brody to be in school so I can be active on the PTA or be a room mom.
–I wish I could keep a clean house. I have OCD about everything being in it’s place, yet could care less about dust everywhere. Go figure.
–In the winter I always have slippers on my feet, but once summer comes, I’m barefoot ALL of the time.
–In my dream home I have a playroom for all of Brody’s toys, a designated guest bedroom, and kitchen drawers that have the soft close feature.
–I wish I had time for more scrapbooking.
–I sleep with Brody’s monitor turned up because I need the white noise. If he sneezes at night, it scares the crap out of me. LOL!
–I love to cook, but hate the clean up (and time to prepare things…wish everything was instant).
–I was born and raised in Pekin, IL. My parents still live in my childhood home.
–I was married 4 months after I turned 21.
–I am not a fan of traveling. I hate the packing and unpacking and the airport! I am a home body.
–I am a HUGE planner. Check lists, schedules, charts, etc. I hope to instill this into my children.
–I drive a 2006 Honda Odyssey and love it, but am secretly jealous of my husbands new sporty car (a 2004 Acura TL).
–I have a wonderful relationship with both of my parents.
–I love Twix.
–I just started watching (from the first episode) “How I Met Your Mother” just a couple of months ago. I’m already in the middle of Season 5. I love this show!
–When I was in Junior High, I had a pretty rebellious streak!
–I am very much in love with Jason. My heart still skips a beat when I see his number show up on caller ID during the day, or when I hear his car pull in after work.
–I am the happiest and at peace when my house is clean or I’m crafting something.
–Jason is my best friend. We have been through so much together, but there is no one else on Earth that I would rather walk through difficult times with than him. I’m so lucky to have him by my side. He is an incredible father to Brody and partner to me.
Okay! That was my turn! Now it’s your turn! I hope you will play along and won’t leave me hanging here. If you have a blog, do a similar post so we can get to know more about you and each other. Then come back and link them up here! I would love to learn some more about my readers!
Miscellaneous

I thought I would read this to calm down after a busy day of a Bible study in the morning and leading one in the pm, but when I got to the part about the monitor and Brody’s sneezing, scaring the crap out of you, I had to laugh so hard that my b/p is back up, but that is okay.
I know about your hatred of spiders as I learned it when I was there in April. Every time I see a spider now, I think of you–fondly–as I step on it or squash it with my BARE hands, as I am not afraid of them at all. But I think I told you about the one in the closet that I didn’t get, and all I could think about was his/her (gotta be PC here) creeping out the door and around to me in bed. Later, I cleaned up that corner of the room/ closet and there were the parts. It had died of starvation or dehydration.
I felt that same way about your Gramps as you do about Jason; we were still very much in love even after 64 years marriage, 2.5 years dating and adding odd months, together 67 years. There is a saying, ”attached at the hip,” but I think we were totally absorbed in each other.
I could fwd. the 22+ pages of things about myself, our life together, etc., but personally, I hope something happens that it just disappears as it is just a carthasis for me. And, I don’t know that anyone will be interested in it.

Sorry the former comment was so long, but you wanted True Confessions, didn’t you?
You get that love of late night from me, don’t you? It is almost 1, and I am just now THINKING about going to bed, but I may eat a tangerine yet!

LOL about you laughing so hard and your b/p rising back up.
I’m still laughing that you got to see my “spider phobia” first hand when you were here last year. I try to tell myself that they’re small and can’t hurt me. I’m somewhat ok with them until they start moving. They move so fast and that part scares me!
I love your phrase on how you described you and Grandpa…you were “totally absorbed in each other”.
And I’d love to read the 22+ pages of the things about you. Hold me a copy or send it to me. I want to read it!
And yes, my love of late nights has to be from you.
I was actually up reading this comment last night just after 2am. LOL! Now that IS a late night for me. I’m usually in bed around 1am.

Whoopee! Someone else reading this would laugh at the time of 2 am vs 1 am, especially if they go to bed at 10!
I think of calling people AFTER 10 and know that some are already asleep. Lucky them, huh? (Or, is it they?)

I always think it’s earlier than it is (wanting to make a quick call, then realizing the other person is probably in bed).

YOU PLAYED THE FLUTE???!!!!!
How did I not know that? Was I at college?
Well, no matter what…way to go! I love this post!! How fun to read! Oh, and I’m quite aware of your spider phobia. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard you scream a few times over the phone. Ha.Ha. Love you!
Jan 27 at 6:17 pm
LOL! Are you serious? I was in 6th and 7th grade, I think. You were definitely not in college yet. I’m laughing that you don’t remember me practicing.
Speaking of spiders, I’ll never forget when Mom and Dad were out of town and we were eating lunch at the kitchen table and saw a spider. We called Peggy from next door to come over and get it for us. LOL!
Jan 27 at 9:36 pm
Quit it!! Really?! I can’t believe I don’t remember you practicing! That is funny! I DO, however, remember us having Peggy come over to get a spider for us!
Next time I see her, I’m going to ask her if she remembers that.
Jan 28 at 11:19 pm
Ok, now that doesn’t even make sense that you remember that. LOL! Definitely ask her to see if she remembers. That’s so funny!
Jan 29 at 9:29 am
I confess…..I don’t remember you playing the flute either! Are you sure that you didn’t dream it??!
Feb 01 at 2:31 pm
Are you kidding me? My Mom doesn’t even remember me playing the flute? Does Dad? I know you have photos of me in a parade wearing a wool band uniform (proof lies somewhere). LOL! Didn’t we pass the flute on to Shelby or something? Is any of this ringing a bell?
Feb 01 at 3:40 pm
To make you feel better…your dad does remember you playing the flute!! Now…. I remember watching you march in a parade, etc. It’s all coming back to me!!! However….I don’t remember you practicing!!
Feb 02 at 10:05 am
You know, I don’t remember me practicing either.
I remember lessons though.

Those are great! Blogposts like these are always super fun to read. And I totally would have pegged you as a book reader!
Feb 06 at 6:50 pm
LOL (me a reader).
Now you know why I don’t make comments to your blog posts about books you’ve read. I wish I enjoyed reading more.
