I Did It….I’ve Struck GOLD!

This is definitely something I shouldn’t be proud of, but I am.  Stupid gimmicks that just suck you in.

A few months back, I met Charlie at Starbucks.  He works there and is one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet (almost fake nice).  We got to talking about the gift card I was using to buy my coffee.  He asked if I had registered this card.  Nope, I hadn’t…didn’t see the value in doing so since I hadn’t planned on “loading” it up with more money to spend.

He then proceeded to show me his GOLD card (with his name on it) and explained it to me.

I know, it’s not completely glamorous, but I did it.  My addiction to Starbucks this past year has gotten me GOLD status.  LOL!  This is about as exciting as my life gets. :)

How Can You Get A GOLD Card?
Registering your Starbucks Card signs you up to enjoy My Starbucks Rewards. You also protect the balance of your card if it’s lost or stolen.  This will automatically enter you into the Welcome level of the program, which means you’ll receive a free birthday beverage.

Once you have visited and used your card five times (which earns you 5 Stars), you will move into the Green level, where you will receive the following benefits:

  • All Welcome level benefits
  • Free select syrups and milk options such as soy
  • Free refills on brewed coffee or tea
  • Free tall (12 fl oz) beverage with one pound of whole bean coffee purchase
  • Special exclusive offers and coupons

After you earn 30 Stars (25 additional Stars after initially qualifying for Green level), you will qualify for the Gold level.  At this level you earn the following benefits:

  • All Welcome and Green level benefits
  • An exclusive, personalized card (unavailable in stores) and Welcome Packet
  • The ability to earn a free drink after every 15 Stars.

  2. I LOVE the gold card from Starbucks! I get a free drink about every three to four weeks (yes, I’m addicted.). And, if you don’t want to use the gold card, you can keep reloading your pretty gift card you can’t bear to part with, and still get the gold level benefits. It’s a great program!

  3. What?!? Not use my pretty Gold Card after working so hard to get it. LOL! Good to know it’s not needed though. :) And it’s refreshing to know that I’m not alone in my addiction. I tell you…we’re two for two (Starbucks and The Container Store). I wonder if there is a group for us. :) So, what’s your favorite Starbucks drink?

  4. Well, when I drink coffee (or tea for that matter), I have to add a ton of milk/cream and sugar to it for it to be perfect. Since I hate taking the time to do that (though it’s totally worth it when I do!), I always get a mocha (hot or iced, depending on the day), because it’s already perfect– the slightly bitter taste from the coffee, and the sweetness from the mocha syrup, and it has tons of milk in it. I do not get the whipped cream (though I used to love it in there), since it adds about 100 calories to the drink. All that being said, a “grande no whip mocha” floats my boat!

    What about you?

  5. I use to be a huge fan of the Decaf. Black and White Mochas (the caffeinated ones just didn’t taste right and I started with decaf. because I was nursing). I am currently in love with the seasonal Caramel Brulee flavor. It’s only still sold until they run out of the syrup, then it’s gone until next year. Bummer! I’m looking for a new favorite and so far the Caramel Macchiato and Caramel Latte aren’t cutting it. *sigh*

  6. I like decaf better than the regular also. I think it tastes better and isn’t as bitter as the regular.

I hate that your favorite drink isn’t year-round. I hope you find something else that you love just as much!

  7. I hope those commentaters above don’t read this, but I do not even like coffee!! Neither sets of grandparents had it–maybe could not afford it, and my mom never drank it either, but don’t take my colas away from me, yet, I drink only 3 every 2 days!!
