Saying Goodbye To An Old Friend
December 30th, 2010 @ 11:54 pmNo, it’s not that big of a deal (I’m so dramatic with my titles sometimes, aren’t I?).
While I’ve always been hot natured, for some reason, I love wearing slippers in the winter and can’t go a day without them. I even took mine to IL with me when we flew there for Thanksgiving. I put them on as soon as I wake up, walk in the door, or any other time that shoes are not on my feet. They are my very best friend come wintertime.
Well, today, I said goodbye to an old friend…my slippers. They’ve been with me for the past several years (yep, the same pair). I’ve tried others, but they’re just not the same and they no longer make this slipper anymore. My old pair are getting holes in them and it was time to say goodbye. I scoured the internet for my new pair and did a lot of research on top picks for slippers. I soon came across the name brand “Acorn“. Their slogan…”comfort on earth”. Now how can you go wrong with a brand that has that slogan?
I will say that these slippers are extremely comfortable! There is so much cushion to them (of course I had been walking in some pretty worn slippers for the past few years, so not much to compare them too). There is a nice elastic back to them so they have a snug fit and the insides are warm. I’m very happy with my new pair, although I miss my old pair tremendously. They were beyond perfect…these new ones….just great, but nowhere near perfect! Would I recommend them to people? Sure! If you’ve never had the slippers I’ve had before, you would certainly think these were a little slice of heaven.
Goodbye my old friend. You will be missed!

You are hilar!
I’m sorry for your “loss”
It’s funny I don’t wear slippers and I have 2 pairs. I’m either wearing socks or barefooted.

I use to have slippers for years and not wear them. I’m not sure why I got into wearing them. I love the feel of them (so comfortable) and can’t imagine not having them. Of course, when it’s summertime, I am barefoot ALL the time!

I am so glad that it was not a person nor a pet as I was trying to think, “What pet did they have?”
U R funny…maybe you got that sense of humor from your mom who got it from me! But I have about a dozen pairs of slippers and go around with either socks or hose on which are warmer than you think, but NO shoes in the house. The saying barefoot and pregnant really fit me.
We four kids wanted to go to school barefoot in April, but Mom made us wait until May. Maybe she was embarrassed for us as we lived with our maternal grand- parents for 10 years since my dad abandoned us from age 6-16 for me.

It is funny to hear how many people do own a pair (or more) of slippers, yet they never wear them. I can’t imagine going a winter without wearing slippers. It’s new as of a few years ago. I wasn’t always like that. And I’ve found I’m much colder in winter than I use to be (only since being pregnant). Strange, huh?
