I’m On TV!

Well, not quite yet, but in the next week or two I will be.  For what, you ask?  Well, let me tell you…

Back in May, I posted about an online clothing swap called, thredUP.  Last month thredUP contacted me and asked if I would be interested in being on TV or in the newspaper, answering questions about their website and what they’re all about.  While this is not my thing…to be “public”, I do enjoy this website and what it offers for me and others, so I was more than happy to “toot their horn” for them.

This past week, I got a call from Diane from ABC11 news and we scheduled for her to stop over this afternoon to “interview” me about thredUP.

The doorbell rang around 12:15pm this afternoon.  Phil, the cameraman, stepped in and got set up.  He handed me a mic and had Jason get his laptop set up and I signed on to my thredUP account and pretended to be surfing this website.  Diane then came in and started the interview (a quick series of questions about the website and what they offer).  As the interview finished, Brody was waking up from his nap.  I gathered some clothing items that I had received from thredUP and put them on our ottoman in the living room.  Brody came in to show the size of the box that the items get shipped in (medium size, flat rate USPS box).  He was in a great mood and even flashed several smiles.

The whole interview was very relaxed and fun.  Both Diane and Phil were great to work with and both have 1-year-old’s, so we enjoyed talking about all the fun happenings at this age.   The time flew by and out the door they went.

This interview will be in a news story about Black Friday, mentioning an alternative way to shop and save if money is tight.  It will air some time in the next two weeks.

  4. I wouldn’t go quite that far. I will only get a minute and a half spot. Not even a full 15 minutes of fame. LOL! :)

  5. Once upon a time, I wrote to WCIA, the local TV station to see if I could MC a show. I was called in for a mock interview, but a guy beat me out, and it was a good thing as he had to do some athletic things. I think another thing against me was that I stepped away from the co-host whenever he got too close–for me.

  9. […] I have to say that it was the most relaxed thing I’ve probably ever done. Diane and her cameraman were both great to work with. They were at our house for just under an hour. To read more about my experience, read my earlier blog post. […]
