I’ve always wanted to make a stuffed animal so decided I would try it. I decided on a bunny (I just love those cute floppy ears).
I drew out my own pattern on printer paper and traced it on some old shirts of mine that are too big for me to wear, but I love the color and feel of the fabrics.

I drew my pattern, traced them onto the t-shirts, and cut them out a couple of nights ago. Last night I put the whole thing together (and let me tell you, I had no clue what I was doing). Lessons Learned:
- Use a pattern already created (free tutorial online or buy one)
- Use actual fabric as the shirt material is very flimsy will definitely not hold up long
- Find something with directions to follow (less confusing)
So, here you have it. Here’s the bunny I finished last night. I put a squeaker inside (taken from another toy that was falling apart already). Brody doesn’t seem to be interested in it, but has touched it a few times (to throw it to the side so he can reach another toy). LOL!

During Brody’s afternoon nap today, I made a tote bag. It was so easy and fun to make and I would be so satisfied with it if….*sigh* I only would have made it correctly. It was a “duh” moment (after I finished).
First off, I didn’t have enough fabric (only cut two panels for the bag instead of four), so I had to go with the closest fabric that matched (all already on hand). This tote bag is reversible, so one side will be all one fabric and the other side will be two fabrics (both of which I love).
Now for the really disappointing part (and I’m not sure I want to take the time to correct it, but will for obvious reasons not use it in the state that it’s in…would look like a moron out in public)….
I twisted one of the straps, which is the “no big deal” of the whole disappointment. The HUGE disappointment (and um, duh factor) comes into play with the straps in general. Look at the bag and see if you can tell what I did wrong. I completely sewed the straps in the wrong area (look at the photo of the bag hanging for a really good idea of what I’m talking about). *sigh* Such is life (and that’s what I get for trying to get a tote bag completely cut and sewn before my son wakes up).
Go ahead and laugh. I am.

I found a great blog post about how someone turned a t-shirt into yoga pants. There wasn’t a lot of instruction on it, just a quick statement that she did this. I wanted to read more about it, so searched Google and came across a YouTube tutorial on how to do this.
I forgot to take a picture of the t-shirt before I started, but here’s a photo of a navy one I found online (it’ll at least give you an idea of what I started with):

And here is what they look like afterward:

This was VERY easy to do. I will say that I really needed to use a larger shirt. The pants are a bit snug (fit fine, but not something I’m going to wear in public).
Whenever you’re at a sale and find a cheap man’s shirt that’s size XL or XXL with a great graphic on it…GRAB IT! Just think how many cute capri pants you can make. So comfortable and SO easy to make!!! I want to make so many more (just wish I could get my hands on some more shirts).

Yep, another project DONE! I’m on a roll.
I hate jeans that don’t have a design on the back pockets. I think it makes people’s butts look bigger (weird, I know). I just found a great pair of jeans (thanks to my neighbor…thanks Jen!). I love them!!! They are so comfortable and look great on (yes, tooting my own horn and saying I look great in a pair of jeans).
These jeans have two major flaws. They do not have a design on the back pockets AND they have a hole in the knee (stupid, I know). So, I fixed both of those issues following tutorials I found online.

Yep, you read the title right. I have some latest creations to show off. Yay me!
I actually made two creations today. I can’t believe I had time to do both (and they both didn’t take long at all…even better!).
I have to say that without Jason’s help, I wouldn’t have even been able to finish one of these creations (so thank you Jason!). He even sent me a text while I was sewing which read, “Care for a coffee or other beverage, madam? Delivery is free for a limited time”. He’s so funny (and extremely sweet). How in the world did I get so lucky?
Ok, so I could go on and on about how great my husband is, but you’re reading this post to see my “latest creations”, aren’t you?
Without further adieu…
My friend made her son a cute little ball. I immediately asked her for the pattern, but then let it sit (like everything else I’ve let sit lately). Brody and I had a playdate at her house this week and I saw this ball that she made. It kicked me into high gear with wanting to make one for Brody, so I made it a priority this weekend to do so. I love how it turned out! I love the fabrics and the color and the million of ribbon tabs (hey, the pattern called for 10 or more).

The other creation I made was this little blanket. I’ve been wanting to use these 5 inch squares from a charm pack I’ve had on hand for months. I just love greens, oranges, and blues with brown. I completely forgot to add the ribbon tabs around the whole mini blanket, so decided to just use them on one side. I also added a special feature (my own label that uses my logo from this site “three14creations”). I love how it turned out! I need to start using my label when I make more things.

So, for the sake of putting something out on this blog, I figured I’d ramble for a bit.
Do any of you have RSS feeds to various sites? I have a load of them. I have categories (Mom Blogs, Crafts, Finance, Savings, etc…). I’ve been really excited about the craft blogs lately, seeing so many things I want to create (and of course have no time to do so). Here are just a few of the things that I’d like to make:
On the side, here are some things I have on my to-do list:
- Create a “Favorites” section for Brody’s blog. Put things in categories (newborn, 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, etc…) and continue to add to this as he grows older. It would serve as a reminder to me if we are able to have another child (what Brody liked at what age) and might be helpful to others with baby’s.
- Create a belated anniversary gift for my parents as well as others (have four people I want to give this gift to). I will post about it once my parents receive their gift (but not before, because my Mom reads my blog).
It’s something I’m very excited to make and I think it makes a great gift (one that keeps on giving).
- I need to figure out what I’m going to do for Brody’s birthday party. I keep toying with not having a party and having a party. I’m starting to be convinced that I should have a party, but want to go with the “no gifts” policy. It would be fun for friends to see Brody partake in his first cake experience and have the kids play together. Just a way to celebrate Brody turning 1. Any ideas? Did you have a party for your child’s first birthday and if so, what did you do and how many people were invited (what were your “rules”)?
- I need to figure out a Halloween costume for Brody. Any suggestions? What did you dress your baby as for his or her first Halloween? I don’t want anything too poofy and need something for the kid to somewhat “walk” in (as he’s already starting to take his first steps), meaning it has to have legs and not be a “sleep sack” sort of costume.
- Now that Brody has his new convertible car seat (it’s MASSIVE), I want to find a “holder” for it for when we travel. Right now I’m not finding anything big enough to hold it and need to call the company to see if they make such a thing. Like I said, it’s massive, but if we’re going to check it, I would prefer it be covered so it doesn’t get too dirty.
Right now that’s all I can think of. Nothing exciting and everything just takes time. Just wanted to share with you what’s going on in my mind lately. Hope you’re all enjoying your week!
