Just Waiting

I can’t even begin to tell you how bored I am right now.  I know…I’ll regret saying that soon and wish I had time to be bored again.  We are so ready for this little guy to come.  It’s just crazy!  I’m definitely in the uncomfortable stage.  Sleeping is the worst and I’m so tired.  I’ve even been taking naps (not that those are any more comfortable).  I’ve even gotten several more things off my list that didn’t need to be done now.

Today I worked on going through my “Clean Eating” magazines (I was behind on two of them).  I just love these magazines.  They have great photos of “clean” items and recipes galore.  I always mark the recipes we’d like to try, then put them in a spreadsheet (name of recipe, what magazine edition it’s in, and the page number) for easy reference.  That’s where I go to when making my grocery list and planning out our weekly menus (which I haven’t done for a while now).  Then I post pictures and the recipe on my blog.  I highly recommend checking out the magazine if you have time.  It’s great!!!

I’m so bored, I’m rambling.  I’ll stop for now and hope to be able to blog about our new little edition very soon.  He’ll have his own website, so my blog will go back to being my blog (creations, recipes, etc…).  When I get approval to start exercising again, I have another blog that I plan on using to document my weight loss (with fat pictures and all…LOL).  It’s ready to go (had planned to start it when I found out I was pregnant back in February).  It’s just waiting to be filled with content.

Oh My Word!

Look what I found on my front porch this morning.  How sad that I had so many packages delivered on one day that the mail person just left them in a box for me.  LOL!

So, now the dilemma is how the heck to get her box back to her.  I’m assuming I can’t keep it because then I would have a federal something in my possession and I’m sure that’s a crime (stolen property?).  LOL!  I’m guessing if I set it out on the front porch tomorrow she’s not going to walk up to the door and remember to get it (nor see it from the street).  I could put it by the mailbox, but would it blow away or be taken by someone else before the mail person got here?

Oh the stress involved with one leaving their property on my front porch and in my hands.  LOL!  Thought it was too funny and just had to share the picture.

How Ahead Of The Game Am I?

Um….VERY!

I mentioned earlier that I have the birthday and Christmas presents already purchased, wrapped, and shipped for my nieces and nephews (this was the start of it all).

  • I have my Christmas newsletter already written and ready to print out (after the final few tidbits to add to it).
  • I have my baby announcements created and ready to go (I just need to put in the “stats” and add some pictures).
  • I have the envelopes already addressed with the mailing labels and return address labels and stamped for both the Christmas newsletter and baby announcement.
  • I have all of my birthday and anniversary cards purchased, addressed, and in order of when to send them from now until the end of January.
  • I have my 2010 calendar already purchased and updated.
  • And, I have “Mommy Calling Cards” already purchased and ready to hand out when my little one is ready for a play date.  I ordered them off of moo.com and picked their variety pack of designs (too lazy to upload my own).

Yes, you can laugh.  Yes, I am that anal about organization and being ahead of the game.  And yes, I’m just a freak (and love it)!

38 Week Belly Pic

Ok, so I’m not quite 38 weeks, but close enough.  I figured since I got ready today, I might as well have Jason take my picture.

I’m in desperate need colder weather clothing.  I have the shirt I’m wearing in the picture and one hoodie (which is in the laundry).  I also only have one pair of shoes that fit my swollen feet and they happen to be flip flops that you can’t wear socks with.  *sigh*  This is going to be an interesting last few weeks of pregnancy.  LOL!

Pack N Play

Yesterday we got our Pack N Play.  I’m not fond of polka dots, but it was the only decent Pack N Play that came in blues and browns.  Jason put it together last night and Oscar was all over it.  I wish I had gotten the camera or camcorder out as Oscar was making us both crack up.  He wanted to lay on everything and when you tried to move him, he’d put his paws straight out and we had to drag him off.

We moved the Pack N Play into our bedroom (where it will remain while people are visiting and staying with us).  It’s not in the final position, but currently just in the room and out of the way.  Oscar has decided to take naps in it, which neither of us like and have taken him out each time.  This time I couldn’t resist getting a picture first.  I am just thankful that he’s choosing to lay in a part that I don’t plan on putting the baby anytime soon.

We’re heading out this weekend to get the last of our “needed” items.  I’m also getting myself packed and ready to go.  Then it’s just wait-and-see.  I’ll keep you posted.

37 Week Belly Pic

The time is drawing near.  Only a few more belly shots that can be taken before the little guy arrives.

We’re both getting more excited and this past weekend Jason said he was ready.  I’m not quite sure I’m there yet (still some things on my to-do list I’d like to get done first).  I have the major things done, so in that sense, I am ready.  It’s just a wait-and-see game now.

My Grandma With Her Quilt

My parents took the quilt to my Grandma yesterday.  They kept it in the box I shipped it in so my Grandma would be the first person to see it.

My Dad took a video of her opening it, which I’ll have to wait and see when they visit to see the baby for the first time.  My Mom took photos of my Grandma with the quilt.  I don’t have a photo of her reaction, but have a great one of her holding the quilt, which I love!  If you look at the table to the left, there is a heart and then a picture of my Grandpa underneath it.  How fitting.

My Mom said that my Grandma looked through the ties in the quilt and kept saying that he wore that tie to match such-and-such outfit that she wore.  What great memories!  I love that she can have something to display with so many memories and be able to share that with others.  I’m so glad she likes it!

Gifts For My Niece

My niece is into the color teal, so I purchased a paper pack of teal and white paper from Stampin’ Up and used that to alter everything I’m giving her.

I had a large clothespin on hand that was already painted white, so I just added paper to both sides of it, sanded down the edges and added her name to one side and a three-piece chipboard flower to the other side.  She can use it to hold notes or whatever.

I purchased large binder clips and used the matching paper to cover the black binder clip, then used a bottle cap and a magnet to attach to one and put a few stray matching flowers together with a brad to attach to the other.

I purchased a notebook that has the tear out pages and a three-ring binder.  My niece loves to write songs (and is VERY good at it).  I put rub-on letters on the outside of the notebook that reads, “LYRICS and other random thoughts”.  She can write her music in the notebook, tear out the page on the perforation, and then use the sheet protectors I put in the three-ring binder to keep her lyrics all in one place.  I made the notebook and binder to match and added a tag on the side of the binder that reads, “my songs”.  Now she’ll have a nice place to keep them all together.  And, I can’t take credit for this idea.  This was my sister’s idea and I love it!

The last thing I made (and am not satisfied with) is a bottle cap choker necklace set (or a magnet set).  I picked out and printed images I thought my niece would like and used a 1-inch circle punch to cut them out to fit perfectly inside the bottle caps.  I used metal glue to adhere the images to the bottle caps, then used Stampin Up’s Crystal Effects on top of the image to seal it in and make a glossy look.  This was mistake number one.  The Crystal Effects blurred the image and I’m not happy with them at all.  Some images even bled (look at the bottle cap that’s attached to the large binder clip).  *sigh*  I then hot glued magnets to the back of the bottle caps.  This was mistake number two….the magnets are way too strong and when you try to take them off of something they’re stuck to, the hot glue comes off too.  Bonus is that the magnet is strong enough to stay on the bottle cap and whatever you’re adhering it to without the use of hot glue.  I then took five different colored ribbons, added a button slide to the ribbon and used hot glue to glue on a metal washer to the button slide.  Now the bottle caps can be attached to the ribbon choker via the magnet (again with the problem that when you separate them, the hot glue comes undone because the magnet is too strong).  The ribbons have velcro closure to attach.  I figure the worse case scenario is that my niece can use the bottle caps as magnets and forget the choker part.  I put them in a metal tin with a see-thru lid and put matching paper around it to make it look more appealing, then attached a bottle cap to the top.  Wah-lah….done!

Latest Baby Creations

Yesterday, I worked on making two sets of baby items to give as gifts.  Each one includes a burp cloth, a bib (with velcro attachment), a diaper clutch (also with a velcro closure), and a onesie.  I used coordinating fabrics for each set.

I found the tutorials online, so they were very simple to make.  I had leftover fabric from making my niece’s quilt years ago, so what a fun way to use some of it up.

I’ve included two newborn diapers and a pack of travel diaper wipes in each of the diaper clutches.  I used a pink ribbon to tie all of the “goodies” together and now they’re ready to give.

I was amazed at how easy everything was to make.  I hope to have time to make more, but I’m guessing not before the baby arrives.

I hope today to get started on making my gifts for my niece.  I’ll soon post pictures.

Swollen Feet and Ankles

My feet and ankles have been super swollen these past few weeks.  So much so that my toes go numb (probably not a good thing).  Last night I had to take a picture of my feet and then took another picture this morning.  If you don’t like feet, then please skip this post (mine aren’t pretty….I’ve had surgery on them both, so have scars and desparately need a pedicure).  LOL!

So, the first picture, you’ll see my swollen tootsies and the second one will be the not so swollen.  They were still swollen this morning (even in the second picture) and my left foot has for some reason always been more swollen than the right.  There’s still a noticeable difference.  I can’t wait to not have “cankles”.  LOL!

The mark on the top of my right foot is from dropping scissors straight down on it.  Can you say OUCH!
