Quilt Layout

I had some issues with the various fabrics that the ties came in. When I sewed them together, some “shrank” or “stretched” and they didn’t line up just right. I had to cut them down from 7.5 inches to 6.25 inches (big difference). This meant most everything else needed to be cut down too (adding more work, but it went a lot faster than I thought).
I went ahead and laid everything out on the hall floor and will start sewing soon. Some pieces still need to be cut (too long), but I’ll get to them when I reach that point. So….this is my pattern. The middle blue stripe is a tie that reads, “Ralph Junior Leffler is a swell fellow”. It’s my Grandpa’s name and my Grandma wanted this to be displayed in the middle (and I totally agree). That’s basically what made the deciding factor of the layout of this quilt. I can’t wait to see it all come together and hope it turns out as nice as I’m hoping.
I chose neutral colors for the other fabrics (tans and browns). The back fabric is a medium brown with a pattern on it. I’ll have the light tan (almost white) strips flanking a row of sewn together ties (not sure if that makes any sense, but I’ll post pictures when I get to that point). Keep checking back for updates.
