Grandma’s Quilt Is Finished
September 30th, 2009 @ 9:20 am
My goal was to finish the quilt no later than last night so I could get it out (via UPS) today. I met my goal! I finished the quilt last night and got it all packaged up to ship out today. I folded it just right so the center (large) square is what my Grandma will see first when she opens the box. I am shipping it to my parents who will be seeing my Grandma next Wednesday and plan to take pictures of her reaction, which I love (and hope to post her reaction here on my blog). Stay tuned.
My next project is working on my birthday and Christmas gifts for my niece. She’s requesting handmade items from Aunt Jan (she’s so my girl) and since the quilt I made for her is part her birthday and part Christmas, I’m going light on the gifts for her this year (which she’s great with). I’ll soon post about that.
I’m also working on making two “girl” sets, both containing a burp cloth, a bib, a onesie, and a diaper clutch to give to a couple of friends who are having girls. I will be working on these this coming Friday and hope to post photos of those creations soon (hoping they turn out nice).
I still have piles of things to go through to prepare for the baby as well. All in due time.

I love it, Jan! Congrats on not only getting it done, but off your list! Woohoo! I can’t wait to see the photos your parents take of your grandma’s reaction. Yay!

I can’t wait to see her reaction too and love that my Mom thought to send the quilt to her so she can personally deliver it and get her reaction on camera.

The quilt turned out great, Jan! I, too, am excited to see Grandma’s reaction. I’m sure it will be priceless.
My mom’s best friend is also a quilter. She just won first place in her first-ever competition. The quilt is amazing to say the least. Anyway, as a surprise to my mom & sisters (and me!), she’s going to make a quilt along these same lines …. using the t-shirts from each of our seven years of golf outings we’ve held for my brother’s Foundation. Since she has to make four quilts, it will probably take her a long while to finish, but I’ll post pics whenever she gets them done. I’m soooo excited to get it. What an heirloom it will be …. just like what you’ve done for your Grandma.

Oh my gosh! That sounds incredible! I can’t wait to see it. Do you have a picture of the quilt that she won first place with? What a great heirloom to have!
