My Favorite Item

I’ve listed several Fabric Covered Journals on Etsy that I’ve created. Some are held together by ribbon and a couple are held together using three binder rings. My favorite color is green, which is one reason I like this Fabric Covered Journal the best. I also like the binder rings (adds more of a non-girly element to the journal vs. the ribbon, although it also adds some bulk too).
I’ve added white cardstock, index cards, colored cardstock, time cards, envelopes, and other papers to this journal. It can be used as a sketchbook, turned into a scrapbook (I made one of these with basketball fabric for my nephew as part of his Flat Stanley project and it was a hit), used as a notebook, or agenda. The skies the limit with creativity.
I have so much fun making these, but they do take some time and a lot of equipment comes out of the closet (sewing machine, ribbon, fabric, canvas, iron, blah, blah, blah). I enjoy seeing how all of the elements come together to create such a fun and functional journal.

These look lovely!
I like the idea of making them with different kinds of papers, I’ve not quite gotten the hang of the idea of scrapbooking, or interesting book type crafts… but these are inspiring. I may have to stop buying notebooks cheap and start buying binder rings instead… if I can find any!
I really like the combination of food and crafts on here, its good to read about. I really like food and keep trying to eat cleaner, although I didn’t know there was a name for it before!
PS: Jeremiah 17:7-8. Beautiful passage, thank you for sharing. I love the things we can learn from trees and this sums up a large part of that.

Thanks for your very sweet comments! As for binder rings, I found some at the local office supply store, but have also seen them (cheaper) on eBay and some also on Etsy. What’s nice about using them is that you can add as many papers as it will hold, so you’re not limited to a certain amount of pages.

Thanks Hannah!
Gina, I’d love to learn how to do long stitch and Japanese stab binding. I love the look of them, but haven’t even attempted to try. If you have any hints or tips, I’d love to hear them.
