Holiday Recipe Book
December 17th, 2008 @ 7:14 pmEvery Thanksgiving and Christmas I make the same meal (not because I can’t think outside the box, but because we both love these foods and these are the only two times of the year that I make them…it’s a shame that they’re so close together).
I have my recipes sorted by category (side dish, soup, salad, dessert, main dish, etc…). Each year I have to go through my recipes to locate the ones I make for Thanksgiving and Christmas, write out my grocery list, and remember which dish I need to make first and so on so they all finish at the same time.
This year I decided to create a Holiday Recipe Book. Something quick that I can grab that would have all of my recipes in it that I’ll make during the holidays. I’ve also included a grocery list (so I’m ready to go to the store at a moments notice) and a list of what order I need to be cooking each item in (taking all of the guesswork out of the planning).
This Christmas will be the first time I will use this, so I’m anxious to see if it was worth making. Here’s our Holiday Menu:
- Turkey Cutlets (I don’t touch anything with the bone still in it…my poor hubby)
- Stuffing
- Sage and Onion Mashed Potatoes
- Sweet Potato Casserole
- Corn Casserole (thanks Clarice!)
- Rolls
- Pretzel Salad
- Pumpkin Pie
- Dutch Apple Pie
- Grandma White’s Gingerbread Boys
- Buckeye Pie (thanks Paul!)
The last two are only made around Christmas and usually Paul (our next door neighbor) makes the Buckeye Pie and gives us some….I’ve only made it once.
